Paloma Casteleiro Costa
Dr. Paloma Casteleiro Costa is an NIH T32 Postdoctoral Fellow at UCLA, under the supervision of Prof. Aydogan Ozcan in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2023, where she worked with Dr. Francisco Robles on label-free quantitative phase tomography. Her research focuses on the development of computational optics approaches for biomedical diagnostics. Her current T32 project develops deep learning frameworks for cardiac amyloidosis to generate virtual Congo red staining from label-free autofluorescence images and differentiate AL and ATTR amyloid subtypes. This work is conducted in collaboration with the Boston University Amyloidosis Center, Hadassah Medical Center, the UK National Amyloidosis Centre, and UCLA Pathology.
